Christmas at St Mary's Cathedral

The Christmas Story - Catholic Students Arts Exhibition (Years 5 & 6)
The winning artwork and up to 60 pieces will be displayed in the Cathedral Crypt daily throughout December from 10.00 am - 4.00 pm.

Annual Carol Service at 7.30 pm
The Cathedral's spectacular and renowned Christmas Carols Service and Readings with the St Mary's Cathedral Choir.  Presided over by Cardinal Pell, the night will consist of a rich selection of traditional carols and liturgical Christmas music.

Sacred Voices Christmas Song Cycle 'Southern Star' at 3.30 pm in the Crypt, St Mary's Cathedral
Jesuit priest and composer, Fr Christopher Willcock has collaborated with writer/cartoonist Michael Leunig to produce pieces reflecting on the birth and life of Jesus Christ.  Performed by the Cathedral Voices with the trebles and two altos of the Cathedral Choir.

The most beautiful carols and Christmas songs from around the world, performed by Australia's own acappella ensemble, The Song Company.

The Australian Association for Religious Education National Conference.

The National Conference "Wine, Whales & Wildflowers" is being hosted by the WA branch of the Australian Association for Religious Education.

The Registration Brochure is now available and can be accessed via the AARE Website (www.aare.org.au)

The Conference boasts:

  • Endorsement / support from the State Government, the Jewish & Islamic Communities, the Baptist, Anglican, Lutheran, Orthodox, Uniting and of course Catholic Churches.
  • We have an endorsement from the Catholic Archbishop of Perth, Archbishop Hickey and Bishop Don Sproxton will help open the Conference.
  • We have received a special Papal Blessing for delegates at the Conference.

Within the programme they have:

  • Three internationally renowned Key Note speakers (from the UK, USA & Australia); two are Catholic.
  • Three different forums involving: Rev Dr Tom Wallace (AM), Prof Brian Hill, Dr Anne Harris, Cannon Frank Sheehan, Dr Ian Barnes, Dr Mark Fitzmaurice, Rev Dr Peter Sellick, Dr Graham Rossiter and Rev Dr Philip Hughes
  • More than 30 Papers and Workshops from educators from all over Australia, New Zealand, India, Hong Kong and the UK.
